The Kiwanis Club of Berlin, NH raises funds, and provides several events throughout the year to benefit the community including a Family Safety Day Bike Rodeo, Read Around the World, Operation Christmas Joy, Scholarships, Special Olympics, Food Donations, and much more. Below are some of our events from 2023.
Family Safety Day Bike Rodeo
Each year the Kiwanis Club of Berlin, NH holds a Family Safety Day Bike Rodeo. This past summer, the Club hosted a Bike Rodeo event in both Berlin and Gorham. The Club provides bike helmets and safety educational materials at no cost to the community. Two children’s bikes are also raffled off at the end of the day. Additional bike helmets are dispersed to local Police Departments to be handed out as they are needed.
Special Olympics Holiday Party
The Holiday Season wouldn’t be complete without the Annual Kiwanis Special Olympics Holiday Party. Each year the Kiwanis Club of Berlin, NH, the Berlin High School Key Club, and the Berlin K-Kids, put on this magical event for the Special Olympians and their family. It’s always a great time reconnecting with old friends and celebrating what the holidays are all about.
Adopt-A-Highway Road Side Cleanup
Twice a year, the Kiwanis Club of Berlin, NH walks a stretch of Route 110 picking up trash along the side of the road. The Road Side Cleanup event is in conjunction with the local Department of Transportation and the Adopt-A-Highway Program.
This year, our Club had the help of the Berlin Key Club, K-Kids and their advisors. In total we gathered 45 bags of trash from our stretch of road. Great job everyone!
Operation Christmas Joy
New this year, the Kiwanis Club of Berlin, NH sponsored 28 families, with a total of 60 children, and provided them each with several Christmas gifts off their wish list to make their holiday season a little brighter.
Parade of Lights, Berlin, NH
The Kiwanis Club of Berlin, NH is proud to bring Santa and Mrs. Claus to downtown Berlin each year for the Parade of Lights. Santa’s sleigh is led by all the reindeer, as he waves to people of all ages.
Kiwanis Teddy Bears for Pediatrics
Even the smallest of projects can have the biggest impact. The Kiwanis Club of Berlin, NH donates teddy bears to the local pediatric medical provider. The bears are given out when children are seen for child abuse exams. Pictured are Dr. Brian Beals, and staff members, Jen O’Neil and Andrea Alger with some of the bears! Thank you to Dr. Beals and his team at Coos County Family Health for your dedication to the youth in our community.
